The office works with mandates that can be held patiently for many years. Size matters less than horizon: a partner who wants to compound over a decade is a better fit than a larger account that needs liquidity next quarter. Prospective partners are encouraged to describe their horizon first and their amount second.
Partners receive a written statement every quarter on the same structure, covering holdings, valuations, income received and the reasoning behind each change. Once a year the office adds a longer review that revisits the original thesis for each major holding.
The office is based in North York and focuses on Canadian holdings, but it does speak with partners who live elsewhere and hold Canadian assets. Any arrangement is subject to the applicable rules of the partner jurisdiction and to the terms of the written mandate.
